How to Order: Axle Assemblies vs. Components
You can use this catalogue in two ways:
- Ordering Complete Axle Assemblies: This is the most common and simplest option. A complete assembly is built to your exact specifications and arrives ready to be bolted to your trailer frame. To order a complete axle, you will need to Request a Quote and provide our team with your key specifications (see “How to Specify Your Axle” below).
- Ordering Individual Parts: This section is for repairs or custom fabrications. If you need to replace a single spindle arm, hub, or bearing, you can browse the components below to find your part.
How to Specify Your Complete Axle Assembly
When you request a quote for a complete axle, our technicians will guide you through the process. The five key pieces of information we need are:
- Axle Capacity: The total weight rating you require (e.g., 2000 lbs, 3500 lbs, 7000 lbs).
- Track Length: The distance from the centre of one tire to the centre of the other.
- Hub Face: The distance between the two hub faces (where the wheel mounts).
- Bolt Pattern: The wheel bolt pattern you require (e.g., 5 on 4.5″, 6 on 5.5″).
- Spindle Arm Angle: The starting angle for the arm, which determines your trailer’s ride height (e.g., -10 degrees for a standard ride, -22 degrees for a lower-profile trailer).
Section 1: Axle Assemblies by Capacity
While all axles are built to your specifications, they are grouped into common capacity classes based on their core components.
Light-Duty Axles (Up to 2,000 lbs)
Ideal for small, lightweight applications where a smooth, quiet ride is essential.
- Common Applications: Hot dog carts, mobile food kiosks, small utility trailers, teardrop trailers, motorcycle trailers.
- Components: Typically uses a 1″ or 1 1/16″ spindle.
Medium-Duty Axles (2,000 lbs to 7,000 lbs)
This is our most popular range, covering the vast majority of consumer and light commercial trailers. These axles provide a perfect balance of strength and smooth-ride performance.
- Common Applications: Landscaping trailers, work trailers, camper trailers, horse trailers, car haulers, and larger utility trailers.
- Common Components: 3500# bearings and hubs (often with 5 on 4.5″ or 6 on 5.5″ bolt patterns), 5200#/7000# bearings and hubs.
Heavy-Duty Axles (7,000 lbs+)
When the job is serious, these axles are the solution. Built with heavy-gauge tubing, high-capacity forged spindle arms, and robust bearings, these are designed for maximum loads and commercial-grade durability.
- Common Applications: Gooseneck trailers, equipment haulers, agricultural trailers, tiny homes, and industrial-use frames.
- Common Components: 7000# and 8000#+ bearings, 8-bolt hub faces.
